Djibouti
01. Project background
Modernizing the Gateway to East Africa
The Republic of Djibouti has emerged as a critical logistics and energy hub for East Africa, leveraging its strategic location at the intersection of major shipping routes connecting Europe, Asia, and Africa. The country’s vision to become the “Singapore of Africa” has driven significant investments in port infrastructure, free zones, and energy facilities.
The Damerjog Oil Tank Farm project aligns perfectly with this national strategy, providing essential petroleum storage infrastructure to support regional energy security and economic development. The project represents the first major private sector investment in petroleum storage infrastructure within the newly established Damerjog Free Zone.
Project GOTD will be part of the Damerjog Liquid Bulk Port in Djibouti Damerjog Industrial Park (DDIP). The DDIP is an industrial free zone project focused on heavy industry including oil, gas, ship repair, and livestock. Constructions for the industrial zone and port commenced in 2018 and comprises a total area of 30 km² and is located close to the border with Somalia.
